For an upcoming amateur production, I have been asked to put together a character look using a wig and existing clothes. We already have a dark coat and a light scarf, which leaves the wig as the most noticeable remaining color choice. We can borrow samples in warmer brown, cooler brown, and muted red, but we will eventually need to select just one. I have been reading about personal palettes and came across this reference while looking for background on color analysis as a starting point for further reading. I would treat that as a starting point for questions, since a stage character does not have to follow everyday style advice. The practical problem is that our rehearsal room and the stage use different lights, making a quick mirror comparison feel incomplete. Should we begin with a daylight comparison and then repeat it on stage, or do the costume and stage lights take priority? I would appreciate a practical comparison method that our volunteers can repeat, especially if the first choice needs changing after rehearsal. |
